Piracy at Lowest Levels in 6 Years

The International Marine Bureau (IMB) revealed that piracy at sea has reached its lowest levels in six years. The biggest reason for the worldwide drop is the decrease in piracy off the coast of Somalia. There have been a number of factors for the reduction of piracy off Somalia's shores to include a stronger Somalia central government, private armed security guards on merchant ships, security measures and equipment on ships transiting the region, and naval warships patrolling the waters near Somalia.
