State Department Facing Security and Funding Hurdles in Iraq As Army Draws Down
The State Department will be expanding its role in Iraq - coinciding with the U.S. military drawdown currently occuring. However, there seems to be a problem with funding - DoS miscalculated how much the security they need would cost for the many locations and operations they plan to manage. For instance they plan to run the police training program in Iraq. This costs money for facilities, instructors, transportation, and security.
