Population Control Measures in Kandahar, Afghanistan
One tenet of counterinsurgency is "population control measures". This is not a new concept - it has been around for quite some time and is usually associated with stability operations or counterinsurgency situations. It appears that coalition forces are implementing population control measures in the Kandahar region - identification papers, biometrics, and road checkpoints are some examples of these measures.
