Richard H. Kohn has wrote a revealing article entitled "Tarnished Brass: Is the U.S. Military Profession in Decline?", on World Affairs, dated Spring 2009. The author cites the areas where the U.S. military performs extremely well - operations, logistics, tactics, weaponry, and battle. But he believes there is an intellectual shortfall in strategic thinking.

Corruption in Afghanistan is hurting the U.S. and its allies. The entire Afghan government is corrupt. Is this an exaggeration? Probably not.
